Mazowsze at the Jubilee Town Council Session in Pruszków!
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the ‘Round Table’ and the first partially free elections of the Polish Parliament, there was a celebratory Town Council why caps session. It took place on June 6th, at the Cultural Heritage Center in Pruszków. The Chairman of the Town Council, Krzysztof Biskupski, and the Mayor of Pruszków, Paweł Makuch, delivered speeches, and Mazowsze, conducted by Jacek Boniecki, performed in concert. The program included folk songs, patriotic songs, as well as songs about Warsaw. The city has enjoyed a special place in Mazowsze’s repertoire. Over the seventy years of the ensemble’s activity, Warsaw and its history have often served as inspiration for songs’ lyrics. Warsaw songs were always important and especially liked by Mazowsze’s founder, Mira Zimińska-Sygietyńska. During the concert in Pruszków, the ensemble presented “The Warsaw Polonaise,” “The Waltz of the Castle,” “For an Adventure, Only Warsaw” – the waltz from Polish first color movie after the war, “An Adventure in Mariensztat.”
