Concert of Christmas Songs and Carols by Mazowsze’s soloists, choir and orchestra conducted by Jacek Boniecki!

Traditionally, Mazowsze started the new year with concerts of Christmas songs and carols, which are very important in the ensemble’s repertoire. Folk songs are the most important legacy for Mazowsze, but carols, often based on folk melodies and rhythm, are extremely popular with audiences. During the first weekend of January, the soloists, choir, and orchestra, conducted by Jacek Boniecki, performed in Września and Solec Kujawski. The fans welcomed and listened to Mazowsze with great joy. The ensemble is famous for its beautiful and faithful interpretation of folk lyrics, and melodic, harmonious renditions of Polish carols. At first, Łukasz Karauda presented “Gdy się Chrystus rodzi” [“When Christ is Born”] and Katarzyna Miąsik sang “Lulajże Jezuniu” [“Hush Little Jesus”]. Then, together, they sang the Icelandic carol „Nóttin var sú ágæt ein” [“The Night Was a Fine One”]. The carol is new in the ensemble’s repertoire and has been received enthusiastically by the audiences. Other soloists who performed during the concerts were Anna Kushnir, Monika Muszka, and Andrei Baravik. There were also musical surprises – in Września the ensemble performed Marian songs, and in Solec Kujawski, patriotic and folk songs. The artists received a standing ovation, so there were encores, as well.
These were the first two concerts of the winter caroling tour. The next one will take place on January 10th, 2020, at 7:30 p.m., in the Our Lady of Consolation Church in Żyrardów.
