The Grand Opening of The Center for Polish Folklore

In less than a month, The Center for Polish Folklore “Karolin” is opening – an event that everyone at Mazowsze have been looking forward to. The center, located in the Palace of Karolin, will offer an opportunity to get acquainted with the national culture of Poland in its regional variants, but it will also recap everything that Mazowsze has been doing for over seventy years, presenting Polish folklore on stages all over the world.

The Grand Opening of The Center for Polish Folklore will be accompanied by the Family Picnic with Mazowsze, which is a recurrent event at Karolin. This traditional, annual occasion, which originated a few years ago, has been continuously popular among the people living nearby as well as guests coming to Mazowsze’s headquarters from various near and far places.

This year’s picnic is undoubtedly going to be a very special cultural event. It will open on Friday, September 3rd, at 8:00 p.m., with a joint concert by Mazowsze and DeMono. The audience will have a unique opportunity to see Mazowsze’s artists perform the songs by one of the iconic Polish bands, as well as hear DeMono’s musicians take on pieces from the ensemble’s repertoire.

Saturday and Sunday at Karolin will feature music of various kinds. Apart from the characteristic folk rhythms, the visitors will also be able to listen to Mazowsze’s choir in a fun collection of songs for the whole family. Mazowsze’s orchestra will give a symphonic concert and the ballet artists will host dance workshops. All those events will be happening on several open-air stages situated in several spots in the Karolin park. Mazowsze always welcomes guest artists with great joy: there will be folk bands from various regions of Poland, a brass band, and regional ensembles. Pomerania’s Big Band will play dance music, and the Stasiek Wielanek Warsaw Street Band will liven up the dance outside the inn. Chamber music lovers will enjoy the string quartet performance in the Chamber Music Hall as well as the Chopin recital by Marcin Wieczorek.

The Family Picnic with Mazowsze also abounds in children’s attractions. The specially designed Kids’ Zone will feature inflatable castles and slides, circus workshops with the Mosaic Circus artists, various contests run by animators, as well as balloons, bubbles, face painting, and free sweet treats for children.

Travel lovers will enjoy a unique opportunity to listen to presentations by remarkable travelers and tourist industry experts. There will also be an artistic crafts market, food truck zone, and our business partners’ stands.

One of the main attractions will be the possibility to visit The Center for Polish Folklore. The whole event will be hosted by Krzysztof Ibisz. The media patronage will be provided by TVP3 Warszawa and Polish Radio.

Join us at Karolin for a weekend with Mazowsze! We’re waiting for you on September 3rd.
